The Real World: Guatemala.
Like a responsible car owner I took my rig to a legit-looking mechanic up in the barrio to check out my high revving motor (since the mechanic in Veracruz, MX did something to it during my drive down). Of course one thing leads to another and turns out the suspension leaves are busted (again) on the right side of the Land Cruiser, and yeah it's pretty obvious. So the LC is still there and hopefully will get it back tomorrow but...who knows. I'm sure it was a result of the drive to Venecia. Those roads were crazy rough. We did hear a loud bang at one point so...
In other news my two housemates' mom and other brother have arrived for a (surprise) visit for a month. Yes, a month. So now the house is full of food made of vegetables and tamales called "bombas" because they are so big. Their mom is an adorably sweet Concepcionera who already went off yesterday about how men do things without thinking and women think through things before acting. Then she gave me the, 'Ya know what I'm sayin' head nod. This morning we all woke up to the drama of the fact that there was a rumor going around in Concepcion that she had died (the call came in from a confused daughter in Concepcion). Not only that but taken poison to kill herself. She laughed it off, after first being worried about her dad who reportedly was crying uncontrollably at the (false) news that his daughter had died, and then said, basically, she's afraid to die just yet because she doesn't think her path in life is straight (as in to heaven) and then made a wobbly hand gesture as to which we all laughed really hard. Either way things are about to get a lot more legit around here with her in town. For a month.
