Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

Daytime walking.

Tomorrow we set out for our trek to Lake Atitlan. A beautiful but challenging trek through villages and cornfields. We were down in the "boca costa" the last few days in a community called Nueva Alianza (www.comunidadnuevaalianza.org), which produces it's own purified water, coffee, macadamia, bio diesel, compost, bamboo furniture and nice people. Now that's the place to be for 2012.

There are only about 10 days left on our course, wow, and I'm sure it will go by fast.

Tonight in our hotel is a sweet lady from Nahuala selling some "tipica" stuff to the touristas - or as she says, Los Toristos! My students were eyeballing her skeptically... the way people are afraid of homeless people and try to avoid eye contact... until I started chatting her up. Then my students swept in like vultures and pretty much bought her out of scarves and bags. They love to buy stuff. In fact, one of my students bought a purple knitted scarf from a 2nd hand clothes shop today. HE said it reminds him of his blankie at home. He's 16, but looks 21. What a group.
