As a public health student, this really caught my eye. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has created a "zombie preparedness" page on their website. According to an article in the LA Times, the CDC guy says, "Let's face it — preparedness and public health are not sexy topics." True. In all my graduate public health classes my classmates and I have been known to geek out on talking about health programs and prevention, but obviously, a lot of health initiatives and ideas fall on deaf ears with the general public. Public health'ers are often involved in "marketing" to a certain degree... trying to make things like obesity preventions, anti-smoking campaigns and stuff like that seem interesting and fun. Well, the CDC, which I never equated with as having a sense of humor made this very important zombie preparedness page!
